I thought Cigarette advertising on television has been banned for a few decades. It was a big deal in the 1970’s. I am not sure who was more pissed about the ban .. the big three networks losing ad money or the cigarette companies themselves. But a strange thing has happened at this years Olympic Games. Phillip Morris USA, cancer’s best corporate buddy, has made a comeback. This time Olympic viewers get to visit the Phillip Morris Quit Assist website several times an hour! Gee, you can learn how to stop smoking and be a single click away the Phillip Morris corporate site and another click from cigarette coupons. With goodwill toward all, Phillip Morris USA might do public service environmental spots, starring the Marlboro Man, showing video of their growing plants and paper trees. Speaking of the Marlboro Man, Where the hell has he been anyways?

And if you visit his website you will see that his talent, patience, and effort is beginning to pay off. You know … what a great time to be a cartoonist. A few weeks ago, the power position was the politicians and the good ole US of A. The George Bushes, the Court of Saddam, and journalists seemed to be the way to piss off Middle Earth. But along comes the Danes and a group of Cartoonists to steal the thunder away from us. How could a simple artist with black ink fire up the world in a way an arsenal of WMDs couldn’t. Gee, it is a great place we live in .. draw a picture and kill or mame thousands.

Could a guy like jbleep create the next great cataclysm? There has to be millions and millions of Star Wars fans across the world. Now if he sticks a fuse out of Chewie’s head .. we could all sit back and watch the Empire Strikes Back… Live!

Oh, and reread the title.

During a recent visit to Indy, I was introduced to a delicious, hot drink at Starbucks. My friend called it a Vanilla Steamer. Simply, steamed milk with vanilla flavoring and whipped creme. But oh so yum, tastes like a warm vanilla milk shake from Sycamores (and I am not kidding). So, I order a “Vanilla Steamer” on the way home. Starbucks calls it a “Vanilla Creme”. I think to myself .. what a great name…steamer. Why don’t they use it? Curiousity gets the best of Hud. So, tonight I Google “Vanilla Steamer” and read the entry from the Urban Dictionary. ‘nuf said. One “Vanilla Creme”, please.
